Rules and Statement of Purpose

NO activities shall be done with prohibited steel weapons with out full LMS membership and approval by the committee. 

 

Association Rules

 

1. No member may posses a replica medieval sword or other weapon without approval of the           committee.

  2. No member may participate in training, display or weapons handling outside of official club practises.

3. Any member wishing to posses an approved medieval weapon must first show the committee they have reached a satisfactory level of competence and attained a ‘LMS sword license’.

4. All members must attend at least four supervised training sessions before being allowed to posses their own sword or other medieval weapon.

5. The Committee has the power to reject, suspend or remove a new member, current member and/or a members request to posses a sword or other medieval weapon.

6. All swords or other replica weapons must not be edged and judged as safe for re-enactment use by the committee.

7. Safety and responsible behaviour must be observed at all times

8. Any member failing to obey the club rules may be liable to be suspended from the club as per rule 5 (1)

9. All members wishing to participate in training and historical re-enactments with swords or other approved medieval weapons must posses the minimum appropriate safety attire. See attached ‘Minimum Equipment Requirements’.

10. Wherever possible all members must strive to attain appropriate historically accurate clothing, armour/safety equipment, helmets etc. for participation in training and is mandatory for historical re-enactments and public displays.

11. Any swords, weapons or attire deemed as unsuitable, unsafe or historically inaccurate by the committee may be disallowed.

12. Members must be aware of and abide by the storage requirements for swords outlined in ‘CONTROL OF WEAPONS ACT 1990 EXEMPTIONS UNDER SECTION 8B TO POSSESS SWORDS FOR HISTORICAL RE-ENACTMENT.

13. Any members under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

14. All new members must be able to produce valid forms of identification eg birth certificate, passport, current drivers license.

 

Statement of Purpose

1. To provide a regular meeting opportunity for people who have a common interest in medieval history and activities.

2. To encourage people to participate in medieval activities in a safe and friendly atmosphere.

3. To provide an outlet for people to learn and participate in the arts and crafts of the medieval era.

4. To participate in public and educational displays

5. To carry out any other activities which are associated with medieval re-enactment in a legal and safe manner.
