Camelot Rise Primary School is situated in a leafy pocket of Glen Waverley the streets of which have been named according to the legend of King Arthur and Camelot Kingdom. It was named thus by Sir. Leslie J Hooker, in anticipation of his own impending Knighthood bestowed in 1973 by Queen Elizabeth II, for his service to commerce and community. Dear to his heart as it was, when Sir. Leslie designed Legend Park Estate he incorporated an extravagant two acre medieval children’s playground, complete with a bluestone medieval castle. He went on to carve Legend Park so that its streets form a shield, which is clearly visible from an aerial view of the estate.
Camelot Rise Primary School (CRPS) has embraced its medieval legacy within its school culture with a knight’s crest as its school emblem, Arthurian streets marked out within its grounds, Quest educational programs initiated each term and our school newsletter is entitled ‘The Round Table.’
On November 5 2016 CRPS is hosting a Medieval Festival to celebrate 40 years of education in Legend Park Estate. On the day we will be unveiling a large bronze Excalibur- sword in the stone sculpture. Renowned Melbourne sculptor Lis Johnson (sculptor of large bronze statues at the MCG) has been commissioned to create the piece on-site at the school so that the community can watch it unfold. Having developed and named Legend Park, the sculpture will be laid in honour of Sir. Leslie. It will be unveiled on the day by his grandson and CEO of Hooker Corporation, L. Janusz Hooker, who is attending the event from Singapore to perform the rite and speak about his grandfather.
It is with great pleasure that we welcome LEONGATHA MEDIEVAL SOCIETY to join us at our medieval celebration to help us provide an insight to authentic medieval life and living to our festival guests.

Hey Folks,
Rob and I attended this event and it was really good fun. Unfortunately we were unable to take our trade stall and so we roved around talking to students and parents about medieval times.
The children of Camelot Rise Primary were extremely well behaved and are a true credit to their school and community. Amazing efforts were displayed through art works by the students to deck their school out in a true medieval theme.
Silverlady.
