Hi guys

Well there is no easy way to put this, but due to a whole bunch of
reasons, all of them to do with how we want this film to look, we are
postponing the shoot of the Troll Bridge battle sequence. I know this will
come as a disappointment to many of you and it certainly is a massive
disappointment to us.

This was a decision the production team agonised over and we want to
acknowledge at this time the hard work put in by so many of you.

Work on other sections of the film is continuing over the next few months
and come the spring we want to see as many of you as we can get in full
flight thumping the doodie out of each other.

At the end of April Snowgum will be throwing a screening of works to date
and we?d like to invite any of you who can make it to come along and have
a or beer or two on us.

Thank you once again and I hope you can stick with us.

All the best

Ahren Morris

Producer
Snowgun Films

I just wanted to quickly add to Ahren's email my own two cents on how much
we appreciate you guys thus far - and just wanted to emphasise that more
time will only make you guys look better on film. The possibility of the
weekend being ruined due to erratic weather, is far too horrific to
consider... we've taken the path of least risk, and we hope you understand.

We've got the location locked in (wedged between Beaufort and Skipton for
those with enquiring minds), 200 tabards in production (which of course you
get to keep after the shoot), destructo shields a plenty, battle plans
etched, and an insane amount of blood. We've also got faux arrows, combat
training and rehearsing to do and planned... we've come a long way - and we
hope we can go a lot further by the time the date roles round. And with all
this, we're still on track to have the film completed by the next Discworld
Convention.

In the meantime - we'll be inviting several of you to take part in another
Discworld short that we'll be shooting to fill in time during the interim
(along the lines of Run Rincewind Run!). It's just a short, short, but
still should be a lot of fun... we've got a heap of talent on our hands with
you guys, and I don't want you to think we're wasting it. Wink

Please let me know personally if this has screwed anyone majorly about, and
I'll see if I can't think of some way of personally making it up to you.

In the meantime - please look forward to the screening we're organising at
the end of April (Run Rincewind Run! will be screened, as will others).
We'll make sure we have a tab... we love you guys...

Hi guys,

We’ve slaved over the new shoot dates, and they will be the 29th and 30th of November. This seems to be the best time away from exams, other events, and before the chaos of Christmas.

As of right now – these dates are locked and loaded. They will not be changed again, and we will simply work around any problems that could arise because of them.

Thankyou for sticking with this guys – and make sure you come to the Snowgumathlon so we can tell you how great you all are!

Kind regards,

Daniel Knight

Hi Guys,

Only weeks away now and MMFAT (for the Victorians) in between. So here is an update and information for members of Sven's Army.

Final recruiting for Sven's Army will be on the 16th of November, no further correspondence will be entered into.

If you need a lift to the site, put it to this list first and see if any one has a spare berth. You must register when you arrive at the site, so we know you are there and you receive credit on the film.

So far we have recruited about one hundred and ten combatants from three states and a territory. We have Kelts, Anglo-Saxons, Byzantines, Vikings, Normans, Rus, Turks, 14th C. English and French.

The look the director is after is of two armies that have been in the field for more than a year (tired, worn and ready to go home). The Good army, is disiplined, marches in step, marches in regiments of archer, spearman, axemen, and sword and shield (Kites and heaters). While the Bad army is a rabble, nothing matches, round shields predominate.

We also need a drummer and other period musicians, contact me off list.

Period kit (Arms, Armour, costume and period shoes) - Old gear if possible. Inspections will be carried out and if the standards are not up to scratch you will be asked to remove the item.

This film may be based on a Terry Prachett story but this is an opportunity to show off how authentic you can be.

Highly recommended:
Period water container

Recommended:
Change of shield (kite versus round)
Spare helms, arms and armour
Nothing too colourful (Blame the Director, he has this thing about bright colours)

Archery gear - Sharps (yes we will film sharps being loosed at an open field). And PC bows (maximum poundage 30lb at 28") and blunts for loosing at live targets.

Please forward/pass this on to members which do not have email.

Regards,

Stephen (Sven) Wyley
Fight Director
0419 333 849

Fight Director Assistant = Johnathon Lyon (NVG Vlachernai's Training Officer).

Sorry Sven Virtualy no-one in LMS has bows that little.
What you say sharps in reguards to arrows do you mean feild points or bodkins?

Hi Morgan,

Okay bring your bows but they will not be able to direct fire at the opposition, clouting will be the order of the day.

Arrows with bodkins or field points are required. along with arrows with blunts.

Regards,

Sven

Gee Sven, you mean we don't get to plunge nice fat bodkins into the welcoming bosoms of our foes. Drat!

Dear Leigh,

We want the filming to be safe for all involved. Especially when will have to do the dialogue in January and we want people to come back, not as many as for the 29th, just enough for back ground. And they can't do that if we put holes in them.

BTW, If any of the Black Griffins have not signed up and want to be in the film let me know.

Sven.

Can anyone lend me a weapon just for show for the filming? A word, hammer, axe. Anything really. I have everything else. I could pick it up at MMfat.

Bummer.

There will be more filming of dialogue for which we will need people in the back ground if your available.

Tentitively dated: sometime during the Australia Day Weekend.

Sven.

Hi all

We've got some new dates lined up for the next Trollbridge shoot. The
weekend we are now looking at is the 21st and 22nd of February.

Check your calendars, ask the other half, read the tea leaves, see
which way Phil turns, do what ever it is you need to do.

If anyone turns up a red flag please let me know off list.

All the best

Hi All,

Here is an update from the Ahren the Producer.

I also need to get confirmation from those coming. Contact me at svensemail@lycos.com or on 0419 333 849.

Sven.

Hi

Well we?re just over 2 weeks out from the next Troll Bridge battle
shoot. I don?t know about you, but I?m getting pretty excited.
Preparations are almost complete at the Snowgum end. We are prepared
to take upwards of 100 re-enactors so come one come all.

I?m pretty sure everybody on this list is aware that the weather has
been a little warmer than usual recently. It?s something we are
watching very carfully. From the planning perspective we?re setting up
a large shaded area adjacent to the shoot site (on the far side of
?one tree hill?) and will have a water store there as well.

Obviously some of the weather we?ve been having has made even stepping
outside a dangerous idea let alone anything more physical. Given it?s
completely changeable nature we will watch how things progress and
make a final decision on the Wednesday before the shoot about wether
it goes ahead. We will be working with Army members and communicate
via this list on any decision that is made.

Should the shoot be postponed, I hope you all understand that we do so
in the interests of our collective health and safety.

Personally I don?t want that to happen, so I?m of to sacrifice a small goat.
Now where did that magnificent knife go???

All the best

Ahren Morris
Producer
