Hey Tris,
We haven't been able to get any linen in a caramel colour as yet...I will have a look in a few more shops to see what we can get but we may have to end up dying something or consider making your dress in wool. Will keep you posted!

OK very short notice I know, but who is interested in doing a clothing and sword fighting workshop on Saturday the 17th of Jan. I would like to get one in before Emmajayne finishes school holidays.

We will finish unfinished pieces, ie. Damo's coathardee and several padded armouring hoods. And also make the usual clothing items (hose, braies, undertunic, overtunic and hood.)
Paul we can make you a surcoat.

The sword workshop will be straight forward re-enactor combat (for the BG guys and anyone who is newish to combat), so bring your fighting gear if you have it, I have several sets of basic fighting gear for training for those who dont have gear.

Please let me know if you are interested, becasue Emmajayne and I spent all wednesday trying to get material without luck, if people are interested in this workshop Emmajayne will get material before then.

JAmes.

No worries Gav,
still no luck in regard to wool, I have olive and caramel from ages ago, but not any popular colours, we spent all sunday looking for wool again, but the cheapest was $18 per meter, so we are still hunting.

An update on the wool situation:

I may be able to get some wool in a range of colours direct from a woollen mill for about $12-15 per metre but it may be too thick (still investigating - it may be stage curtain fabric - which is GREAT for cloaks mind you!!)

Also checking out somewhere else where they have a range of colours for $18 + GST per metre...seems like this is about as cheap as it comes atm.

Will keep everyone posted as soon as I know.
Em

good work James and Emma J, we appreciate your efforts is it any wonder LMS is now the PREMIUM historic club in Aust wit committed members like this!

In regards to wool for me I really need black, our club colours really dictate it and given I have red hose if I got red wool shirt as well I'd look like Santas skinny little brother!

Keep us posted folks.

James & Emmajayne,

Sounds great. I'll be there if you go ahead. I'm keen to lean some sword basics and would also like to make a tunic (brown or black)

Cheers,
Dave

Gav,

Can't believe I'm getting fashion advice from a bloke in red tights. Black is OK with me.

Cheers,
Dave

Gina and I are - will be making it over. Maybe for a bit of training as well.
Gina will come with her sewing machine and we might dig out a bit of wool we can bring along as well.
Food - we can bring some oven stuff again to be heated up but any other thoughts of this? We can help out paying for food as well?

Update on wool situation...

After driving to a secret location Wink ...I have managed to get a 1/2 (?) bolt of black wool and a bolt of navy blue wool. I also have a huge pile of pieces (ie: offcuts) of some other colours...

If you have a specific colour in mind, you will need to put it on the list here so that I can put it aside for you (if I have it that is!!).

Will also try and get some more white linen before Saturday for under tunics, braies, lining, etc...

Em Smile

Hey Gav, I know you club guide line states clothing colour but historically your surcoat would have been an issued item but it would have been worn over your civilian clothing which could be any colour.
